Los Angeles Public Library - LA Made series

The Los Angeles Public Library’s “L.A. Made” series is a great way to explore the vibrant cultural mix that makes L.A. unique. Whether you're into adult coloring, Mexican tin art, watercolors or painting, “L.A. Made” has something for everyone. And the best part? It's all free. With multiple programs happening in different locations around the city, this series brings the community together, sparking creativity and celebrating L.A.'s diverse voices and experiences.

Meztli Projects

This Indigenous-based arts and culture collaborative is dedicated to bringing Indigeneity to the center stage in Los Angeles. They believe in achieving healing through art by incorporating ancestral teachings and practices. Their goal is to address not only the painful consequences of colonization but also to aim to "recode our bodies with resilience, ancestral brilliance.”

Plaza de la Raza

Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center for the Arts & Education was established in 1970 by civic, labor and business leaders. Since then, it has proudly focused on serving the neighborhoods of Los Angeles's Eastside. Its mission is to celebrate diverse cultures and bridge the artistic, social, and cultural divides within L.A. The center offers a wide variety of affordable art workshops year-round.

Pot Studio LA

This non-profit pottery studio is dedicated to providing affordable ceramic workshops to Black and Brown communities. It offers low-cost classes, scholarships, and free community events. Self-Help Graphics & Art

Self Help Graphics & Art has been a creative force in the Chicana/o and Latinx community since 1973. The organization supports local artists through experimental printmaking and visual arts. Its programs bridge generations and disciplines, empowering the community through art that is not only beautiful but also socially engaging and culturally meaningful.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art - LACMA

LACMA is renowned for its exhibits, but it also offers outdoor art spaces where you can sketch or journal. Additionally, LACMA hosts free or low-cost workshops covering various subjects, from cyanotype to botanical drawing, making it the perfect place to explore new artistic avenues.

ArtShare LA

The non-profit organization has been making waves in downtown L.A. since 1998. They offer artists an accessible space to work, perform and exhibit their work. The organization aims to eliminate the barriers that have limited access to art creation for people of color, LGBTQ+, individuals with disabilities, and those with low incomes.

Healthy Active Streets

Established in 2014 in Long Beach, this non-profit aims to empower youth, women and people of color by advocating for their safety while using active transportation such as bicycles. It offers various programs, including book clubs and bicycle safety education.

Nova Community Arts

Tía Chucha’s Centro Cultural & Bookstore

Tía Chucha Centro Cultural, situated in Sylmar, is a vibrant community gathering place that is dedicated to preserving and sharing ancestral native knowledge, arts and literature. As a bookstore, it houses an extensive and diverse collection of titles that celebrate the creative works of Latinx, Black and Indigenous creators. The center also serves as a hub for a wide range of cultural and art events, including workshops, performances, and discussions, providing a year-round opportunity for individuals to engage with and celebrate diverse cultural expressions.

Urban Sketchers Los Angeles

It’s the LA chapter of an international organization dedicated to creating a "grassroots community of sketchers." They gather once a month to experience the city by drawing it. This welcoming meeting doesn't require any experience, just the desire to spend time outdoors, build community, and enjoy LA. All you need is a pen and paper, and you're ready to go!
