Gabriela MC has released ‘El Corrido de Luigi’ on TikTok with lyrics in Spanish that retell the murder of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, which took place on December 4 in Manhattan.

Luigi Mangione has been charged with murder in the first degree in furtherance of terrorism along with other charges for allegedly shooting and killing Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealth Group.

The lyrics include how Thompson was on his way to a meeting with shareholders before being shot.

The corrido also adds the words that Mangione yelled outside of a courtroom in Pennsylvania before a hearing on his extradition to New York. “No insulten la inteligencia de ese pueblo americano,” which means “do not insult the intelligence of the American people.”

Mangione has been extradited to New York and is awaiting trial.

Corridos became popular during the Mexican Revolution and usually “relates a story or event of local or national interest—a hero's deeds, a bandit's exploits, a barroom shootout, or a natural disaster,” according to the Texas State Historial Association

Gabriela MC describes herself online as a singer, songwriter, social worker and coffee shop owner who makes Mexican regional music. She owns Postres Cafe in Bellflower and said her parents are from Zacatecas and Jalisco.
