Screenshots of ICE reports in SoCal. (Amairani Hernandez/CALÓ News)

There have been social media posts about immigration raids in the L.A. area after a report from the New York Post.

CALÓ News could not confirm any enforcement operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), however one of the videos posted on Instagram by eastloslosangeles90022 does clearly indicate that one of the officers has a vest with HSI, which is Homeland Security Investigations.

Other posts from social media show officers captured on camera but it is unclear if they are from ICE.

A social media post stated that ICE officers were present in South Gate. CALÓ News contacted South Gate city councilmember Gil Hurtado, who replied that he was not aware of ICE being in the Southeast L.A. city.

If you look at the uniform, these are not ICE agents. I’m not quite sure what these are or what specifically is going on here, but it’s not ICE,” Hurtado said in an email about the screenshot we sent from social media.

We reached out to an ICE representative to inquire about the operation and we will update this post if we receive a response.
