The grand opening celebration for the new Sprouts Farmers Market store in Cudahy started today early in the morning.
City officials and Cudahy residents welcomed the new grocery store at 6:45 a.m. The celebration will continue throughout the weekend with music, free samples and exclusive offers. The first 100 in-store shoppers will receive a free reusable bag filled with samples tomorrow.
The city is also conducting a survey for residents to fill out by February 19 about the opening of the store.
Sprouts, a grocery store chain which focuses on selling fresh and healthy foods, said in a press release they are providing more than 100 full and part-time jobs to the area.
"Sprouts will house 135 jobs in our city, quickly becoming one of our top employers. Not only is Sprouts creating jobs in our community for our residents, but they are also giving our community the ability to have options when buying groceries. The grand opening of Sprouts gives residents in the City of Cudahy and all of SELA the ability to choose fresh food options, which support the health and wellbeing of our citizens," the City of Cudahy stated in a press release.
The new Sprouts grocery store is at Cudahy Plaza Shopping Center on the corner of Atlantic Ave. & Elizabeth St. at 7925 Atlantic Ave. in Cudahy.
